Laura Geller Inkwell Waterproof Gel Liner Duo

I’m always excited when I receive a package from BeautyStat.com because I know it is going to be a great new beauty product to try, and this time was no exception.  My newest beauty good complimentary from Beauty Stat is by Laura Geller.


Laura Geller is launching a new gel eyeliner in 2012 called Inkwell Waterproof Gel Liner Duo, which I had the pleasure of trying.  The liner is cutely packaged in a bottle that resembles an inkwell, and comes in Black and Purple.  The liner is a creamy gel liner, similar in consistency to other liners made popular by MAC or Bobby Brown.  What’s unique about the product & packaging is the liner also comes equipped with a built in brush that conveniently comes right out of the top.  If you are like me and like a longer handle for your eyeliner brush you can clip the brush to the top of the liner to extend.

The liner itself has a great consistency and applies very easily.  The black is super pigmented and you truly only need a little bit of product to line your eyes.  The brush is great for a precise line, or you can smudge it for that messy sexy look.  Give the liner a minute or two to dry and set and it will then wear all day long.  Throughout the day I noticed that my liner stayed perfect.  You don’t have to worry about any smudging or running with this product.  I like to use the black liner on the top and the purple on the bottom for a simple way to add some contrast.

With all that said, in a nutshell this is what I love about the product:

  • Long lasting & pigmented

Zen Lotion -Dr. Jules Nabet

Recently I have been trying out a new, very unique lotion called Zen Lotion by Dr. Jules Nabet.  Dr. Jules Nabet is a renowned doctor specializing in aesthetic medicine.  With 20 years in the business he knows his stuff so I was excited to try out his products.  The Zen Lotion was provided complimentary to me by Beauty Stat but my review of the product is my own objective opinion.

The lotion actually sprays from the bottle.  The packaging instructs you to spray the lotion on the face and neck after cleansing, but after my first awkward attempt I decided to spray on my hands and apply with my fingers.  The lotion was surprisingly moisturizing.  I thought that because it was “liquid” enough to spray out of a bottle, and very lightweight on the skin that it would not really penetrate but I was wrong.  After using the product I discovered that although it is not heavy or greasy it does give a light moisture.  I noticed that my skin felt smoother after using it.  I was very happy with this product and I would definitely recommend it to others.  It has a lot of anti-aging ingredients so I would definitely recommend this product to mature ladies.

Active Yellow Acne Medication

Over the past month or so I have been trying out a new acne product  called Active Yellow Acne Medication.  The product is 1% salicylic acid and meant to clear acne in one simple step.  This product was provided to me complimentary by BeautyStat.com but everything below is my own objective opinion.  Please visit www.activeyellow.com for more information.

The product has a unique texture.  I would probably classify it as more of a “gel” for lack of a better word.  It is a lighter consistency than a typical gel but I consider it more “gel like” than a lotion or cream.  The product felt very light on my face.  My skin does feel a bit dry after applying the product, which is not unusual for me.  I just reduced my use from twice a day to once a day and followed up with a light moisturizer to combat dryness.

When I initially tried the product I saw results right away.  My skin was the clearest it had been in a while for about a week or so.  After that I started to notice bumps returning to my face. : /   I continued to use the product for a few more weeks in hopes that it would clear my skin again, which it unfortunately did not.  So this was not the miracle product that I hoped it would be for me.  I still encourage you to try for yourself though, because as I am beginning to discover, my skin seems to have a mind of its own.  The Active Yellow website suggests that you can use the product on clear skin as well to prevent breakouts.  I think that I might find better success using the product as a preventative method rather than trying to clear up my already broken out face.  Active Yellow was very gentle, but I think it might be a bit too gentle and not effective for me.

Get Creative!

Get Creative!  Use your makeup products in unconventional ways.  Try using your lipstick as a blush, or your cream blush as a lipstick.  That eye shadow can be a blush or a bronzer.  That cream eye shadow can be an eye shadow primer.  That eye shadow brush might be perfect to apply concealer.  The possibilities are endless.

One of my favorite multi-purpose products is Makeup Forever’s Flash Palette.  This cream palette can be used for literally just about anything.  I use it for blush, lipstick, eye shadow primer, contour & highlight.  It is absolutely everything you need it to be and more.  I cannot stop singing its praises.  Seriously!

My favorite multi-purpose brushes are any Duo Fiber brushes.  I especially love Mac’s Duo Fiber brushes.  The can be used for liquid or powder and really buff product into the skin.  I use them for foundation, blush, bronzer, highlight, contour, and powder.
